And The Gap Is Only Going To Get Bigger….

In the only Mayoral debate held during the last election, I asked the Mayor if she knew the City tax rate was higher than the District’s. She denied that it was!

I told her the rates: 1.6831 in the City and 1.5702 in the District.

I explained that it meant for a one million dollar home in the City, the property tax bill is $1,683.10. For the same home in the District, $1,570.20. City tax rates were definitely higher, and have been higher for the last 10 years.

The Mayor, by now flustered, said, “If they are, residents of the City are getting a better deal!”

I don’t think so. The City’s tax rate was 7% higher in 2022, increasing to 11% in 2025 and the gap is guaranteed to continue getting bigger.

While both City and District residents are going to be hit with big rate increases from Metro to pay for the sewage treatment plant fiasco. Only the City decided to get a credit line for $165 million to spend even more.

We really need change at City Hall.
